The joint is jumping!

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks at Planet Grub…after a much-needed vacation camping in the Adirondacks, we started working on new flavors and perfecting some recipes. Crickatoffee was our first cricket treat, but we knew we wanted to keep working on it until we found the perfect buttery, brown-sugary ratio and get that toffee texture just right. This is it – the crunchy crickets and almonds are a great counter point to the delicious English Toffee.┬áThis might just be my favorite cricket treat yet!

We also went on a spice extravaganza testing new savory flavors, and this week will be serving Chipotle Lime, Smokey BBQ, and brand-new Wasabi-Soy roasted crickets at the Troy Waterfront Farmer’s Market, so stop on by at our home base Thunder Mountain Curry and try them all! While you’re there, grab some pad thai or a curry sampler!

They’re hopping off the plate!

PlanetGrub made some CrickaChip cookies last night, and they’re hopping off the plate! Traditional tollhouse cookies amped up with the addition of cricket flour, these cookies are even better than mom’s, and add some protein as well! We’ll be exploring gluten-free options, oatmeal cookies, and brownies and adding to our list of deliciousness!

Available at Thunder Mountain Curry at RPI & the Troy Waterfront Farmer’s Market!

Invasion of the Crickets – Yummy Ones!

Planet Grub made its debut at the Troy Waterfront Farmer’s Market! We’ve partnered up with our friends at Thunder Mountain Curry and are serving our Sriracha Ginger Lime Crickets as an optional topping for their made-to-order Pad Thai or on their own, and selling our CrickaBark, Crickatoffee, and CrickaBrittle in 10g bags – a perfect size for a tasty treat.

This week we’ll be working on some recipes made with cricket powder – I’m thinking CrickaChip Cookies might be next. My sister in law made a suggestion for CrickaTurtles, which really sounds delish…caramelly-chocolately-nutty-and, of course, cricketty! That hits all the right notes for me. Let us know what cricket-based food you’d like to jump into in the comments!
